Another year has gone by. I know I barely write, but I will be having guests really soon, so now I won't be writing at all until the new year. I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
I would just like to let everyone know how thankful I am for this year. We have been through so many good times and we've had some rough ones as well, but we have been blessed, overall. I am very thankful gor the gospel in my life. I know that my redeemer Jesus Christ lives. May we all remember his sacrifice, not only during these times, but always.

Winter is here!
I know that it has been here for a while now, but it actually feels like it now. The weather here has been as it was in Texas, crazy! Now it feels cold enough for me to consider it winter weather. Yesterday, it snowed all day, but just like in Dallas, it didn't stick. Velani was so happy to see it, now that she actually understands what it is, and I am not gonna lie, I was too.
I am getting ready for this cold winter, hopefully! For the hot chocolate and the oh-I-love-yummy-and-easy-to-make-hot-soups kind of meals. So if you have any please feel free to post the recipes. They better be easy and yummy! Please post, don't be shy people. I need some ideas.
I hope that everyone has a good, warm winter. Keep your kids bundled up and hopefully none of you will get sick. I definitely don't need snotty, sneezing and coughing kids. I have enough with two beautiful girls not letting me sleep at night. Although I do have to say that we have been blessed during these cold seasons. Velani never really got sick and hopefully Mia will follow in her footsteps.
Don't forget the recipes.

Thankful Thursday!
We should be thankful every day!
I have many things to be thankful for, but I am especially thankful for my beautiful girls. I learn so much from them and am continuing to learn much more. I know I always talk about them, but I woke up this morning with both of my girls in our bed. Last night we had another HUGE tantrum and I have to admit I was a little mean. I haven't had much sleep lately and I have been getting cranky during those late night awakenings. After about 45 min we finally got her to sleep, but the little one woke up. I took her upstairs so she wouldn't wake up her sister again. Before I knew it, Velani was also in our bed. I felt guilty!! I saw my 2 precious girls asleep and realized how peaceful they looked. I was immediately filled with a love beyond imagining.
I know that this will not be the last time I feel "tired" and that I will feel like I need to take a deep breath and count to 100,000, but when I look at the faces of my precious angels, I know that every little thing is worth it and that I can handle it. I know I am not alone. There are many wonderful mothers out there who go through alot. I know that being a mother is not the easiest thing, but it is the most admirable and it is a wonderful blessing.

Sleeping child
Never wake up a sleeping child. I have heard that many times before, but why not? says who? what happens if we do? I have the answer to all of these questions. Answer #1: because we can't. Period. Answer #2: Who cares who said it. Answer #3 You get a cranky, crying, upset, and a you-are-gonna-wish-you-had-never-waken-me-up kinda child.
It is very important for babies and toddlers to take naps during the day. Besides the fact that children have to have a certain amount of hours of sleep a day, bad things happen if they don't get their naps. What type of bad things? well, let me tell you my story.
Velani was up all day playing and watching the cartoons she loves. She read some books and ate a yummy lunch. Mommy was busy doing important things too, like doing chores. Mommy asked Velani to take a nap after lunch and she said no. She was too busy, so mommy didn't insist like other days. Mommy figured she would just go to bed early. Needless to say mommy regretted it later. I am the mother and she should do what I tell her, right? but this is Velani we are talking about. She is not just any little girl, she is a little girl with an attitude and mommy just doesn't like to fight with her all the time, so she just lets her have her way sometimes and this was one of those times.
At about 6:30 pm Velani was completely out. I guess for other mothers that is okay, but for a mother of a diabetic who has to have a snack before bedtime is not. She had just finished her dinner an hour before and we still had to wait another hour before we could give her her snack. I decided I would let her sleep for an hour and then wake her for her snack. Bad idea. When I woke her up I had the crankiest daughter ever. She was screaming, kicking and crying at the top of her lungs. I tried to hold her, sing to her, kiss her and just about anything to calm her and nothing worked. All I got in return was more kicking and crying. This went on for a good 30 min when she finally went out again. 15 min later we were going through the same thing over again.
It was a really bad night for all of us, except Mia, she was completely out and happy.
So as you have now realized, that's why you shouldn't wake a sleeping child, especially if they didn't have their nap. I am sure there are many other reasons, but this was mine. Lesson learned.
Note: Velani had a few bites of her snack and her blood glucose was fine the next morning. She also slept with us.

We like to party!
Great, now I have that song in my head. You know, that song they use for the Six Flags commercial. The one with the silly man dancing!
According to Wikipedia:
A party is a social gathering for celebration and recreation. It can have religious, cultural, or seasonal implication as well, but the term 'party' usually implies a strong social/socializing component to the gathering.
Well, that is what we like to do. By we I am referring to my daughters and I, not so much Jahvel. Maybe it's a girl thing. Partying, in my dictionary, doesn't have a specific meaning. It just means going out, having fun, or just getting out of our normal routine like: shopping, going to the park, heck, going to the library, or even dancing.
I did mention I was practicing for two different dances in a previous blog, right? Well, we are having our Christmas party at church tomorrow and some sisters and I are going to dance. This week I have been going to our dance practice every day at the same time. Jahvel has been staying home with the girls while I go and have some fun, dancing time for my self! Except for Wednesday. Little miss Velani didn't want to be left behind. As soon as she heard me telling Jahvel I was going to my dance practice, she said she wanted to go too! her exact words were "yo quiero bailat tambien." See what I mean? She just wants to get out of the house and PARTY! I tried to convince her to stay, but she insisted. I even offered her a popsicle if she stayed and she said NO! I saw how badly she wanted to go and "dance" herself so I took her. She had already seen us practice before and I guess she remembered how much she enjoyed it or maybe she just pretended to like it so that she could use that excuse next time mommy went to practice and mommy would think that her daughter actually likes to dance and would end up taking her out of the house, whew! She is smart!!
Nah, I think she just liked it. Now I know she is up for dancing anytime, and she's pretty good at it too!
I wish I had recorded her "practicing" with the other sisters and I. She was right by my side learning the steps, laughing and just having fun.
So as you can tell, any little excuse works to get out and have fun. This is only one example of our so-called "parties."So if you ever need a "party" buddy you know who to call. We are there! Mia too, I mean she will dance her eyes away. I come with a bundle so count on 3 if you do invite me. Hey, the more the better!

Too much!
These past few hours have been full of tantrums and I should thank my little drama queens and myself for that. It is impossible to deal with major drama queen at the moment when all this "drama" is taking place. She hears no reasons. She thinks it has to be her way! I must confess that when we have these moments I feel like locking myself in a closet. Too much goes on at once and I get overwhelmed and a little frustrated. Welcome to motherhood, Stefani!
I had a few of these moments earlier today. Velani has been known to not eat enough or none at all, but for the past month or so it has been the total opposite. This is actually good, only to some extent. Due to her diabetes, she is suppose to eat a certain amount of carbs for her meals. Lately, she has been wanting to eat in between meals and snacks. She had just finished her breakfast and 30 min. later she was asking for an icecream pop (sugarless of course!) and I had to say no. I told her she needed to wait for her snack time. She refused to give in so quickly and started begging, yelling and crying. During all of that begging, yelling and crying, Mia was also getting fussy, due to a late night adventure, and I started my own tantrum, as well.
I began to feel overwhelmed! I didn't get enough sleep. Remember Mia's late night adventure? this is how it went: Mia woke up when Velani went down, but this time she stayed up! She thought it was time to play and get her vocal cords going again. She began to coo and do that cute yelling she does, only this time I seriously didn't think it was that cute anymore. I ended going to bed until 2 am! and just when I thought I was falling a sleep I heard Mia again, Jahvel was also up and Velani followed. I couldn't believe it. Was it really time to wake up? How was that possible? had 5 hours already gone by? sure did. So just to sum it up, I am not in a very patient mood today, but don't worry because that won't stop my little drama queen and her little accomplice!

Happy un-birthday!
My littlest, Mia, is 5 months old today. I cannot believe how time is just slipping away.
On July 2nd 2008, a beautiful little girl was born. I haven't been able to stop thinking about how much she has grown and how fast time is passing by.
I would like to let you know, my beautiful baby, how much I love you. I love the way you smile at me, I love the way you laugh at all of the silly things we do, just to make you laugh. I love that you are my daughter. Here is to you and to how much you have grown and changed in just 5 months.
