February

What a crazy month!!!

Adan is learning how to crawl, has 2 teeth, his farts are really stinky, can't have rice cereal without having a severe throw-up reaction, has absolutely no interest in any type of foods, can't get enough milk, and still likes to wake up in the middle of the night just because he gets really "thirsty"! He has been waking up more than usual lately and that is really getting to me. He loves playing with his sisters, but mostly likes to explore on his own. This little boy has brought so much happiness to our lives!

Mia has quite an imagination! She likes to use that imagination and play in her room by herself. I have seen her play and it always brings a smile to my face because I remember being just like that. She loves her little brother and can't get enough of him! She is always watching him and taking care of him. She has this accent when she talks that we just love and we really don't get tired of listening to all the things she has to say. She plays nicely with her sister, but occasionally loves messing with her! Yesterday Mia had an accident. I don't know how or why, but she always seems to trip and fall (ALWAYS) and yesterday was no exception, but this was worse than all those other fallings. She was playing princess and was by the staircase and I guess she tripped on her dress and she fell down the stairs. My poor girl got a bruise on her nose and her finger. She's doing good and she's really happy now.

Velani is my smart cookie! This girl doesn't miss a beat! She loves school and is learning so much. She has so much energy and is constantly talking, asking and just learning as much as she can. She loves to read and write so just imagine all the cute little letters we get from her even when she's mad. For Valentine's day she gave daddy and I a really sweet one. She's doing good in school and I think she really likes her art and computer classes. She's had a valentine card exchange party, parent career day (karate), book fair, and other exciting events. I've also had a mother tell me that she kept telling her daughter that her breath stunk, so I had a talk with her. She doesn't mean to be rude or mean, but I guess she can be brutally honest, but she does just want to be liked by others and be a good friend. The only thing I have noticed she needs help with is her comprehension skills. She has been sent with a story that she has to read on her own and then I have to ask her questions about it. Now, this is a book I have been reading to her for a long time now and she knows it by heart and knows what it's about, but when it comes to the question "if you could change the title of the book what would you choose to call it?"she replies "Goodnight Monster" (that's the name of another book they have) "what?!" "why?" "that has nothing to do with what the book is about" I reply, but even when I explain to her she doesn't seem to get it until I start giving her ideas. Maybe she's still too young to understand, but I do know that I didn't learn to read or write until first and second grade so she is still doing way better than I did at that age.

Jahvel has been busy with school, but is doing so good in his classes and passing his tests. He recently started his pre clinical rotations, he goes to the hospital and pretty much shadows a PA in the department he's in for that day (all morning).  We still don't know what is going to happen with us in September, wether we are staying here or moving to Idaho, but hopefully we can leave. I guess I wouldn't mind staying another year since I am actually getting used to it here, but we'll see.

I get really bored being home. I don't know where to go or what to do without really spending money, it's hard to find fun things to do and not travel far. I really just look forward to the weekends when we can actually go out and walk around the mall or go grocery shopping (our outings sound so much fun, don't they?) believe it or not as long as we go out together as a family and do something, that's really enough for me. Once in a while we go out to eat or we buy the kids a little something or we have a pizza and movie night at home and that's always fun for them. I have no idea how six months have gone by so fast when we're not really doing much.

So there you have it! Pretty much our month of February.
