A visit from the WEST!

My in-laws came all the way from good ol' St. George to the city of "Brotherly Love" a.k.a Philadelphia. On May 27 we were able to greet my in-laws and nephew, Eli, (they arrived past midnight when we were all fast asleep). The girls were happy to see them and couldn't stop playing and being noisy early that morning. We packed our bags and headed to Palmyra, New York. We arrived to our destination around 6 that evening and pretty much relaxed for the rest of the day. We ate, went to the store to buy me a new bathing suit that would actually fit me (more on that on another post), and went back to the hotel to swim.

We had a lot of fun the following day. We drove another hour and a half all the way to the famous Niagara Falls! It was AMAZING and just breathtaking. We got to see the U.S. falls up close on the Maid of the Mist. The girls were scared when the boat started rocking as we got close, but they enjoyed getting a little wet. Adan didn't know what was going on, but at least he didn't cry and he just enjoyed the ride. It was pretty hot and when we were finished exploring and taking lots of pictures we left and went to have dinner and then back to the hotel to swim some more!!

On Tuesday we took my in-laws to the Hill Cumorah, where J. Smith uncovered the gold plates; to the Smith's farm and Sacred Grove, where Joseph Smith went to pray and saw God the Father and His son Jesus Christ; and to the Book of Mormon printing press, where the first books were printed. The feeling and the spirit we felt when we were at those special places was just indescribable. We also had an unforgettable moment when we were at the Smith's farm; it started to rain on us while they were giving us a tour, but it stopped shortly after and as we were coming out of the Grove a storm hit. We were stuck inside the visitor's center until the storm passed, but while we were there they let us have our picnic inside. It turned out to be a good day and we were able to see everything we wanted. We had dinner at Joe's Crab Shack that evening ( I was disappointed that they no longer serve my favorite dessert, Banana foster :(  and meal fish tacos!). We went back to the hotel and watched a movie. We didn't go swimming that day because Velani's hair was stiff and dry like nothing I had ever touched or seen before. The pool must have had so much chlorine in it or something because her hair was nasty. I even let conditioner on her hair all night so that her hair could go back to just being thick and beautiful, but it didn't work.

We headed back home Wednesday morning and got home that evening and just rested from all the traveling and site seeing. Thursday morning we all headed to the hospital for my sonogram, where we found out that we are having another boy!! (more on this on another post). We dropped off Velani at school afterwards because she really wanted to go back to school and we went to the mall later that day. That evening, after dinner, my mother in law cut all of our hairs. Velani had been wanting one for a while and Mia didn't want to stay behind and well, summer is going to be hot and I am pregnant so why not?!

On Friday we went to see the Statue of Liberty (third time for me!) and had lunch there and then headed back home. Jahvel didn't want take them to time square or anything because of all the traffic and just how crowded it gets. We spent our day at Ellis island and at the Statue, but I guess it was fine because it got pretty chilly and we weren't prepared! My in-laws left Saturday afternoon, but my mother in law were able to go g-saling that morning at Velani's school and I got some really fun books for the kiddos and some movies for us.

It was fun spending the week with them and just great that they were able to come visit us!
