Mama!

Those were Mia's first words. I know she knows what that means. I got very emotional when I heard that word coming out of her mouth one morning.

Like every morning, I am too tired to get up. I just want to stay in bed and get a little extra sleep, ok a lot of extra sleep, but Mia just doesn't quite like that idea. She is determined to get some mommy time before big sister wakes up. There is this routine we all go through every morning. Jahvel wakes up and starts getting ready for school, Mia wakes up after him (around 7:30 AM) Jahvel will go downstairs and bring her up and plays with her in bed, so then they wake me up and Velani is the last to wake up (around 8:30 AM). This special morning was a bit different. When Jahvel went to get Mia I really really didn't feel like waking up so I covered my face with the blanket (that's his hint). They were playing and being loud and I just couldn't fall back asleep, but I was determined to stay in bed longer. I took a quick peek and saw Mia, but I didn't let her see me, a few minutes later I took a peek again and that time she saw me and smiled. What happened next was the sweetest thing ever. She said MAMA and started crawling towards me with that beautiful smile that could make everyone melt, ok maybe not everyone, but it sure makes me melt. I was completely awake and smooching on her and rubbing it in Jahvel's face.

I deserved that moment and let me just tell you that I love that my girls are always happy to see me and want to be with me even though sometimes it doesn't seem like it. Really, after everything we do as moms how can we not enjoy and love that feeling when we see the glow, excitement and love in their eyes every time they see us? we can and I feel very special.
